Concrete Floor Painting in Malaga for Villas, Driveways and Patios

Faded driveways, patios and pavers recoloured in two coats of resin paint, with no digging up and no rubble.

Concrete floor painting brings a faded, patchy outdoor surface back to one deep, even colour without lifting a single slab or block. We clean it, repair the small defects, cut in the edges by brush and apply two coats of synthetic resin paint, so the driveway, patio or path you already have looks cared for again.

What does painting outdoor concrete actually change?

Painting outdoor concrete changes the colour, the evenness and the finish of the surface you walk and park on; it does not change what lies underneath. A grey, chalky driveway becomes a single rich tone, hairline cracks that have been filled stop drawing the eye, and the tide marks left by years of sun and rain disappear under the new colour.

For a villa owner on the Costa del Sol the appeal is simple: the ground in front of the house is the first thing guests see, and it is often the part that has aged worst. Outdoor concrete painting on the Costa del Sol lets you refresh that ground without a skip, a breaker or a week of dust blowing into the pool.

Nothing is dug up and nothing is carted away as rubble. The existing slab, imprinted pattern or block paving stays exactly where it is; what changes is the skin of colour on top, and that is the part people notice.

Painting concrete does not fix subsidence: if the ground beneath a slab is moving, that has to be solved first, and no coat of colour will hold a sinking surface together.

Which outdoor surfaces can we recolour?

We recolour existing exterior surfaces made of plain concrete, imprinted (stamped) concrete and concrete block paving. If it is outside, already laid and basically sound, it is very likely a candidate.

Surfaces we restore1Driveway2Garage & ramp3Patio4Terrace5Pool surround6Parking areaSurfaces we restore
  • Driveways and gate entrances – the surface that takes the most tyre wear and shows the most fading.
  • Carports and parking bays under pergolas or open roofs, where oil drips and dust collect.
  • Patios and terraces next to the house, where an even colour makes outdoor furniture look sharper.
  • Garden paths and steps in plain concrete or pavers, which often weather unevenly between sun and shade.
  • Pool surrounds in concrete or imprinted concrete, where the choice of finish needs extra thought because people walk barefoot and wet.

Each of these has its own page: concrete painting for plain slabs, patio and terrace painting for living areas, and paver painting for block-paved drives and paths.

How does a concrete painting job run from first photo to finished floor?

Every job follows the same six steps, and none of them is skipped because the quality of the colour depends on what happens before the first coat.

  1. Photo and size: you send pictures and the approximate square metres through the form or WhatsApp, and we tell you whether painting is the right answer.
  2. Cleaning: the surface is pressure washed to remove dirt, loose material, algae and dust that would stop the paint from bonding.
  3. Repairs: cracks, small potholes, chipped areas, open joints and broken edges are filled and levelled so they do not telegraph through the colour.
  4. Cutting in: the edges along walls, posts, steps and planters are painted by brush first, so the line against the house is clean.
  5. Two coats of colour: the synthetic resin paint goes on in two separate coats, which builds depth and evens out the tone.
  6. Finished: the area is left to cure as the product data sheet specifies before you walk or drive on it again.

If you want to see what each stage looks like in real life, the Marbella driveway on our projects page shows the washing, the crack filling, the brushwork along the carport posts and the first strips of colour.

Why two coats of synthetic resin paint?

Two coats of synthetic resin paint give a deeper, more uniform colour than one, because the second coat covers the thin spots, roller marks and pores the first one leaves behind. The first coat bites into the cleaned surface; the second one builds the finish you actually see.

Synthetic resin paints form a film on top of the concrete rather than staining it. That film is what gives the surface its colour and its sheen, and it also acts as a protective layer against everyday dirt; how well a particular product resists water, oil, ultraviolet light and abrasion is stated on its data sheet, and we work to that sheet rather than to guesswork.

We do not name a single "best" paint on this site, because the right product depends on the surface, the traffic and the look you want. Our coloured resin coating page explains the system in more detail, and the guide on comparing outdoor floor paint systems sets out the general differences between paint families.

Can paint hide cracks, stains and uneven patches?

Paint hides colour problems well and structural problems not at all. Fading, blotchy patches, old tyre marks and repaired areas that no longer match can all be unified under two coats of the same colour.

Fine cracks and small chips are repaired before painting, so once the colour goes on they are much harder to spot. Wide cracks that keep opening, slabs that rock, and areas that have dropped are a different matter: they point to movement below, and we will tell you plainly that painting is not the fix.

Deep oil stains are another case to discuss honestly. Some come out with cleaning, some fade enough to be painted over, and some keep bleeding through; a photo of the stain helps us judge which, and our sister site on oil stain removal covers that side in depth.

How do you choose a colour that suits a Costa del Sol villa?

The colour that works best is usually the one that ties the floor to something already fixed: the roof tiles, the stone on the walls, the window frames or the pool coping. A driveway that echoes the house looks deliberate; one that fights it looks like a patch.

Darker greys and charcoals hide tyre marks and dust well and give that crisp, freshly finished look you see in the Marbella photos. Warm terracottas and sandy tones sit comfortably next to whitewashed walls and Andalusian tiles, while lighter shades open up a small courtyard.

Sheen matters as much as colour. A glossier finish looks richer and makes the pattern of imprinted concrete stand out, while a lower sheen is calmer and shows less glare; our colour and finish guide walks through the trade-offs, including what to ask about grip around pools.

What if you live abroad or let the villa out?

You do not need to be in Spain for us to quote or carry out the work. We can handle everything in English over WhatsApp and email, starting with the photos you or your property manager send.

  • We agree in writing what will be painted, which colour and which areas are excluded.
  • You tell us who will open the gate: you, a neighbour, a key holder or the property manager.
  • We send you photos during the work and when it is finished, so you can see the result before you next fly out.
  • For holiday rentals, we plan around your bookings so guests are not arriving to wet paint.

For owners who rent out, a recoloured driveway and terrace is one of the visible upgrades that makes listing photos look fresher. Our guide for villa owners explains how the process runs when you are not on site.

What does concrete floor painting cost in Malaga?

The price is worked out per square metre and then adjusted for the condition of the surface and how easy the site is to reach. Cleaning, crack repair and the two coats of paint are part of the standard job rather than optional extras.

What affects the quote1m²2Surface condition3Cracks to repair4Cleaning needed5Access6Community / timingWhat affects the quote
  • Area: the number of square metres to be painted.
  • Condition: how many cracks, chips and loose patches need repairing first, and whether there is old flaking paint.
  • Access: steep drives, narrow paths, steps and areas where the van cannot get close all add time.
  • Detail: lots of edges, posts, planters and steps mean more brushwork.

We do not publish a figure on this site; the indicative price per m² is on our dedicated pricing site, and a firm quote comes after we have seen your photos.

What does a concrete painting company in Malaga not do?

We are a concrete painting company in Malaga focused on renewing existing outdoor floors, and we say no to work outside that. We do not paint car park lines or numbers, coat industrial warehouse floors, paint interior floors, lay new concrete or paving, or carry out structural surveys and design.

If your enquiry falls into one of those areas, we will tell you straight away rather than stretch the service to fit. That keeps our attention on what we do well: making tired driveways, patios and paths look new again.

We are based in Marbella and work across Málaga province, from the western Costa del Sol to towns such as Fuengirola and the Axarquía; the areas page lists where we travel.

What does the result look like on a real driveway?

The clearest example is a villa in Marbella with a long, grey, stone-pattern imprinted concrete driveway, a carport under a reed-roofed pergola and the apron in front of the garage. Before the work it was faded and cracked; afterwards it was dark, glossy and even from the gate to the carport.

Frequently asked questions

Do you have to lift or replace the existing concrete?

No. The whole point of the service is that the existing slab, imprinted concrete or block paving stays in place. We clean it, repair the small defects and apply two coats of synthetic resin paint on top. There is no breaking out, no rubble and no new base, which also means far less disruption around the house and garden than replacement would bring.

Can you paint imprinted (stamped) concrete?

Yes, imprinted concrete is one of the best candidates for recolouring. After cleaning and filling any cracks, the pattern is coated in two layers of colour, which restores depth to the stone or cobble design. Our sister site on imprinted concrete covers that surface in detail, including the Marbella driveway shown on our projects page.

Can block paving be painted?

Yes. Concrete block paving can be cleaned and recoloured in the same way as a slab, provided the blocks are firm and not rocking. Weeds and loose material are removed from the joints during cleaning. If many blocks have sunk or lifted, those need relaying first, and that is not something we do.

How long does the paint last?

We do not quote a lifespan from memory, because it depends on the product, the traffic and the exposure. The durability and recoating interval are given on the product data sheet, and we explain them for the system we propose. Regular gentle cleaning and avoiding harsh chemicals help any coating keep its colour for longer.

How soon can I drive on a painted driveway?

Drying and curing times are set by the product data sheet and also vary with temperature and humidity on the day. We tell you the relevant times before we start and mark the area off until it is safe. For rentals and busy households we plan the job so vehicles can be parked elsewhere in the meantime.

Will the painted surface be slippery?

Any smooth, glossy finish can feel different underfoot when it is wet, so slip resistance deserves attention, especially around pools and on slopes. The slip rating of a coating is stated on its data sheet (to be verified for each product). Tell us where people walk barefoot and we will take that into account when choosing the finish.

Do you work on pool surrounds?

Yes, concrete and imprinted concrete pool surrounds can be recoloured. Because they are walked on wet and barefoot, we discuss the finish and its grip with you first and work only to what the product data sheet states. If the surround has a natural stone coping, tell us, because our service covers concrete surfaces only.

Can you remove oil stains before painting?

We pressure wash every surface before painting, which lifts a good part of the surface dirt and some oil. Deep, old oil stains do not always come out completely and can sometimes show through new paint. Send a close-up photo and we will tell you honestly what to expect and whether extra cleaning is needed first.

What colours can I choose?

There is a wide range of colours for outdoor resin floor paints, from greys and charcoals to terracottas, sands and greens. We help you pick a tone that suits the house, the roof and the garden, and we explain how lighter and darker colours behave with dust and tyre marks. Final colour availability depends on the product line.

Do I need permission to paint my driveway?

It depends on the municipality and the zone. In Málaga city, repairing or coating exterior slabs in gardens, pools or common areas is listed as a minor work under a declaración responsable, though protected areas may need a licence. For Marbella and other towns this is to be verified, so please confirm with your ayuntamiento before work starts.

I live in the UK. Can you handle everything while I am away?

Yes. We communicate in English, agree the scope and colour in writing, and arrange access with you, a neighbour, a key holder or a property manager. During and after the job we send photos so you can see the progress and the finished surface. Payment arrangements are agreed in the quote.

Do you paint garage floors inside the house?

No. We only work on exterior surfaces such as driveways, carports, patios, paths and terraces. Interior floors, including enclosed garage floors inside the building, are outside our service. We also do not coat industrial warehouse floors or paint parking lines and bay numbers.

Can paint fix a driveway that has sunk?

No. Sinking, rocking slabs and cracks that keep widening are signs of ground movement or a failing base. Paint only renews the surface colour; it cannot hold a moving slab together. Those problems need to be assessed and fixed first, and structural assessment is not part of our service, so we would tell you to consult a specialist.

How do I get a quote?

Send us a few photos of the area, a close-up of any cracks or stains and the approximate square metres, either through the contact form or on WhatsApp at 613 656 443. We reply with an assessment of whether painting is suitable and a quote. If the photos leave doubts, we arrange a visit to measure and inspect.

Why don't you show prices on this site?

Our pricing information lives on a dedicated site so that it stays consistent and up to date. It explains the indicative rate per square metre and what is included, such as cleaning, crack repair and the two coats. Your final figure depends on area, condition and access, so it comes in a written quote after we see photos.

Does the price include IVA?

Our quotes are given with IVA added on top, and the quote states this clearly. Which IVA rate applies to renovation work on a home depends on conditions set by Spanish tax rules, such as who the customer is and the age of the property. Our pricing site explains the general rules in more detail.

Can you match an existing colour?

We can usually get close to an existing colour by choosing the nearest shade from the product range, and we discuss the options with you before the job. Exact matches against weathered concrete are difficult, which is why we generally recommend recolouring a whole area edge to edge rather than patching parts of it.

Do you work for communities of owners?

Yes, we can quote for shared driveways, paths and outdoor areas in urbanisations and communities. In that case the decision and the budget normally go through the community's administrator and the owners' meeting under the Spanish horizontal property law. Our sister site for renovation decisions explains how community approval usually works.

Which areas do you cover?

We are based in Marbella and work across Málaga province, including the western Costa del Sol, Málaga city and the eastern coast towards the Axarquía. Our areas page lists the towns and districts we travel to. If you are unsure whether we reach your address, send the location with your photos.

What happens if it rains on the day?

Paint needs a dry surface and suitable weather to bond properly, as set out in the product data sheet. If rain is forecast or the surface is still damp, we move the date rather than risk the finish. We keep you informed by message, which is especially helpful when you are not in Spain.
